TIHELI URGES PUBLIC SERVANTS TO EMBRACE CHANGE

Mohale’s Hoek, Sept. 19 — The Senior Information Officer from the District Administrator’s office, Mr. Litsóeneng Tiheli says it is about time public servants regardless of age embraced changes brought forth by the use of technology within their respective Ministries.

Tiheli stated this in an interview with the Agency during a one-day training session held for the officers by the Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI) in partnership with the Lesotho Institute of Public Administration and Management (LIPAM), by noting that technology makes day to day running of Ministries easier, and plays a major role in securing confidentiality of government’s information.

He stated that similar training sessions should be held regularly so that those who have been in the civil service prior to the use of technology could be kept up to speed, and be able to accept change without being resilient, but urged those in authority to tighten laws on cyber security, to avoid situations whereby government information ends up leaked to social media platforms.

On the other hand, Head of Operations and Training from Serumula Business Solutions Ms.Itumeleng Mphoso asserted that as a consultancy firm they have been engaged by MICSTI to assess the usage of Microsoft Office 365 across Government Ministries and departments, and to strengthen the effective use of Ms Office 365 for improved service delivery.
