TIP MULTI-SECTORAL COMMITTEE TRAINED

Mokhotlong, April 16 — Members of the District Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Multi Sectoral Committee have been trained on TIP related issues to enable them to identify and report the crime on time.

Formed by civil servants from non governmental organisations and  different government departments, the training was organised by World Vision Lesotho (WVL) under the European Union funded project called  ‘Empowerment of Civil Society Organisation in Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (PPHR)’, aimed at strengthening social protection systems in responding to TIP and protection of the rights of people with disabilities in the district.

In her brief remarks at the training held in the district this week, the PPHR Project Officer, Ms. Tiisetso Ngatane said the training was intended to help the committee to understand TIP so that it can effectively be reported and addressed on time.

She said it was also held as a follow up to the request made by the committee after it was established and developed the district annual work plan in January this year. LU/TL
