TOBACCO, ALCOHOL LEVY GETS AMENDED 

Maseru, Sept. 12 — Following the passing of the Tobacco and Alcohol Levy by the National Assembly in April, the Minister of Finance and Development Planning has announced the Amendment of the Levy. 

This is according to the Legal Notice No. 89 of 2023 which states that Tobacco and Alcohol Levy be amended by deleting 30 percent and 15 percent and substituting with 15 percent and 1.5 percent respectively. 

In an interview with the President of the Liquor and Restaurant Owners Association (lROA) Mr. Motseki Nkieane, said the decrease in levy came at the right time when most of their businesses were about to close.
