TWO BODIES RETRIEVED FROM MAQALIKA DAM

Maseru, Aug. 31 — The Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) Fire and Rescue Team recovered two bodies from the Maqalika Dam on Sunday morning after a vehicle reportedly lost control.

Senior Inspector Letsielo Mabitle told the Agency that preliminary investigations suggest the vehicle veered off the road and struck a nearby tree before ending up by the edge of the dam.

He confirmed that the bodies of a man and a woman were retrieved from the dam.

However, he added that further investigations will be conducted at the scene to establish the exact number of passengers who may have been in the car.

Senior Inspector Mabitle expressed concern over the frequency of such incidents, recalling that in January this year, the bodies of two women were also pulled from the same area of the dam.
