The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Lesotho has strongly lamented reports that businessman by the name of Yan Xie is not a Chinese citizen.
The statement from the Embassy says that some local newspapers have reported a piece of news regarding Yang Xie as a Chinese citizen which it states contains misleading information.
“Yan Xie doesn’t hold Chinese nationality. No Chinese citizens, companies or investors here in Lesotho are involved in Yan Xie’ business activities”, says the statement.
It adds that the Embassy always urges the Chinese companies in Lesotho to act in accordance with law and will continue making contributions to the development of China-Lesotho Bilateral relations.
Yan Xie commonly known as John was a few years ago appointed as Lesotho Head of Special Projects and Prime Minister’s Special Envoy and Trade Advisor.
Yan was alleged to have been one of Revenue Services of Lesotho (RSL) suspects. He allegedly owed the country M20 million in tax and is believed to be a shareholder at Jackpot Supermarket…
