FIVE FAMILIES IDENTIFY THEIR ILLEGAL MINERS AT STILFONTEIN

Maseru, Feb.06 — South Africa (SA) North West Hospital has announced that at least five families have come forward to recover their deceased illegal miner’s bodies, who were trapped underground in Stilfontein disused mine.

According to the SAPS the majority of the arrested suspects and the deceased originated from Lesotho, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

Deputy Director General for Hospital Services, Polaki Mokatsane said that they received information from a pathologist that five families came forward to collect their deceased.

Moreover, he said Pathologists are still busy with the process of Post mortem with the assistance of the SAPS Victim Identification Centre (VIC) for the process of identification.

South African Police Services (SAPS) confirm that more than 1,700 illegal miners were arrested in Stilfontein and are still in police custody. . .
