CONVICT HAS PART OF HIS SENTENCE SUSPENDED

Maseru, May 27—-Bulara Letsie of Ketane in Mohale’s Hoek will only spend five years in jail after the High Court sentenced him to 25 years imprisonment of which 15 years was suspended for three years.

This was after Letsie who was initially charged with murder, was found guilty of culpable homicide for causing the death of Nohana Masoleng in 2017.

The court directed that part of the sentence be suspended on condition that in three years, the convict is not convicted of any crime involving violence or loss of life.

When passing the sentence, presiding judge, Justice ‘Mabats’oeneng Hlaele stated that culpable homicide does not mean there is no life lost. She emphasised that the sanctity of life is jealously guarded by the courts.
