LOCAL AUTHORITIES ON CHILDREN’S RIGHTS

Mohale’s Hoek, Aug.23 — Chief of Shalane Hlomelang Teane and Councillors from various Councils have held public gathering with the purpose of raising awareness to villagers about children’s human rights.

Chief Teane asserted that this followed a training held for local authorities by World Vision Lesotho through a program called Citizen Voice Action, (CVA), and they discussed issues like early childhood marriage, children headed families, as well as initiation schools taking underage boys, and noted the aim is to take the initiative to schools.

On the other hand, Phamong Councillor Mr. Molefi Putsoane stated that the main challenge is that youths do not want to attend public gatherings, citing they are meant for the elderly. . .
