Maseru, Apr. 02 — African countries including Lesotho and Zambia are among a host of countries across the globe observing the International Fact-Checking Day (IFCD).
Check-Mate Lesotho, the only and first fact-checking platform in the country in collaboration with Checkmate Zambia commemorates April 02, the day marked for fighting misinformation, disinformation and misinformation.
Mr. Motsamai Mokotjo from Check-Mate Lesotho says the day is a testament to the ethical ways of accuracy of public statements, which may lead to harming news consumers and the general citizenry.
He said in 2016, the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) marked the day and the primary goal was to promote information integrity and build global fact-checkers to combat misinformation, disinformation and misinformation in the fast-moving modern information landscape. PM/TL
