Quthing, April, 21- Co-operators from across Quthing District are expected to converge in the Lower Moyeni commercial area this Thursday to mark District Cooperatives Day under the theme “Building Bridges: Cooperatives Contributions for a Peaceful World.”
In an interview with the Agency, District Cooperatives Officer, Ms. Alice ‘Moletsane, said the theme highlights the important role cooperatives play in promoting stability, social harmony and community empowerment.
She explained that the celebration is intended to raise awareness about the value of cooperatives in encouraging teamwork, creating economic opportunities and contributing to poverty reduction and job creation.
Ms. ‘Moletsane noted that the event will feature exhibitions of products from various cooperatives and associations, offering participants a platform to market their produce. She added that attendees will also receive education on how to establish cooperatives, alongside motivational talks aimed at inspiring growth and innovation.
She further indicated that the gathering will provide an opportunity for co-operators to share ideas and experiences, with a view to strengthening business practices and promoting sustainable development.
Although the International Day of Cooperatives is traditionally observed on the first Saturday of July, Quthing District has opted to celebrate earlier, a practice introduced last year to avoid extremely cold weather conditions.
