Maseru, March 06 — The Alliance Française de Maseru will host a special Moshoeshoe’s Day Market celebration scheduled for March 11, bringing together Basotho and others to honour the legacy of Moshoeshoe I while enjoying a vibrant market atmosphere.
According to Alliance Française, the event will feature a variety of food stalls offering delicious dishes, sweet treats and refreshing drinks, creating an opportunity for families and friends to gather and celebrate together.
The organisation says the special edition of the market is intended to promote unity, heritage and community spirit while also giving local vendors a platform to showcase their products.
Observed annually on Moshoeshoe’s Day, March 11 commemorates the life and leadership of King Moshoeshoe I, the founder of the Basotho nation, who is widely remembered for his diplomacy, visionary leadership and efforts to unite different communities under one kingdom.
The day is marked across Lesotho through cultural activities, ceremonies and public celebrations that honour Basotho history and identity.
Alliance Française further noted that market days play an important role in bringing people together while supporting local entrepreneurs, artists and food vendors.
The organisation says the Moshoeshoe’s Day market will therefore provide a festive platform for people to celebrate culture, enjoy local flavours and strengthen community bonds.
