AMERICA’S PLANE TO TAKE FIRST LAND IN LESOTHO

Maseru, Mar. 12 — The United States (U.S) Embassy through the US Military Air will on Thursday hold an area familiarisation flight at the Mejametalana Airbase.

Speaking in an interview with the Agency on Tuesday, the Press and Media Digital Outreach Coordinator at the American Embassy Mr. Moeketsi Chefa said that the objective of this flight is to conduct a joint Kingdom of Lesotho and U.S Embassy familiarisation flight.

He mentioned that the flight will consist of guests from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Lesotho Defense Force and the Embassy which he said is expected to renew the Embassy’s commitment to future cooperation with the Kingdom of Lesotho.

Mr. Chefa however explained that this is the first time such an initiative has been carried out, also mentioning that it is the first time an American aircraft has landed on the ground of the Kingdom of Lesotho.

Currently under the stewardship of Ms. Maria Brewer, the United States Embassy has for the longest time built relations with the Kingdom of Lesotho on a number of sectors which amongst others include the placement of Peace Corps which function in the fields of education, agriculture and health.

Additionally, a number of Basotho youth have been given opportunities to study or even acquire jobs from the United States.
