APPLICANT DIRECTED TO FILE MOTION

Maseru, Jan. 15 — Litekanyo Nyakane, one of the accused in a case against some army members who are accused of killing three men at Mafeteng in 2012, has been directed to file a motion as he seeks the court to address his medical issues.

Nyakane has through his lawyer Advocate Karabo Mohau (KC) told the court that he has last been taken for medical treatment at Makoanyane Military Hospital in November.

He pointed out that the issue was previously dealt with before Justice Maliepollo Makhetha in December last year when officials from the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) and Lesotho Correctional Services (LCS) were called to explain what was happening.

The court was told that it has been revealed that there was an agreement between the LDF and  LCS that when the accused is taken for his medical checkup, he should be accompanied by two unarmed officials into a consultation room. It was further told that it seems like the LCS has gone back on that agreement as they insist that the accused be accompanied by armed officials into the consultation room.
