AU CHAIRPERSON PAYS COURTESY CALL ON KING, PM

Maseru, Feb. 07– The outgoing Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC) Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat paid a courtesy call on both King Letsie III and the Prime Minister (PM) Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane in Maseru on Friday before bidding farewell.

Mr. Mahamat said he did not only come to Lesotho to bid farewell but to also thank Lesotho’s support during his tenure of office as the Chairperson of AUC.

“I will retire in a few days from now and I felt the need to come and thank the King and PM in person,” he said.

He said Lesotho funds AU and continues to contribute towards the implementation of Africa Agenda 2063, saying the King’s contribution as Nutrition Champion in the continent is significant and adorates within Leaders in the world to help children and African Population.

He also commended the county’s support towards the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC) which is based in Lesotho, saying the welfare of children is a base of a healthy population.
