Qacha’s Nek, Oct. 26 – In a breathtaking showcase of athletic prowess and national pride, Basotho athletes reigned supreme at the inaugural 21.1 km Mountain Marathon, celebrating 200 years of Basotho history and culture.
Held in Qacha’s Nek on Saturday, the event attracted participants from seven countries, but it was Lesotho that claimed every prize in the race.
A total of 176 runners registered for both the 21.1 km and 5 km races, with registration closing at the crack of dawn on race day. Competitors from Kenya, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, Eswatini, and South Africa tackled the challenging mountain terrain, but it was Lesotho’s own Olympians, Tebello Ramakongoana and Mokulubete Makatisi, who stole the show. . .
