BASOTHO RESTRAINED FROM ENTERING SOUTH AFRICA

Maseru, March 12 —  South Africa (SA) Minister of Home Affairs, Dr. Leon Schreiber suggested to meet with Lesotho Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy, Home Affairs and Police, Mr. Lebona Lephema to discuss the challenges that forced Basotho to depart to SA seeking employment.

“I am going to visit Lesotho soon with the commissioner and the team, i think there is specific focus that required on that area that various members have raised it, I am going to take a look but also looking at the reality that the Honourable Members raised about Lesotho being surrounded by SA which is one of the most relevant factors. However we also cannot put the interests of SA on the back burner when addressing the situation with Lesotho,’’ SA Minister of Home Affairs. Dr Leon Shreiber Says.

According to SA reports Basotho make up the high number of immigrants who stay in SA without proper documents since approximately 58,000 of immigrants restrained from entering SA, 38,000 of that number are Basotho.

SA Border Management claimed the majority of Basotho make their way to SA without proper documents though Tele Bridge in Quthing while others using different mode of transport as a results SA Government Officials are about to take action by demanding the names of those mode of transports that assist Basotho to get in SA unlawful.
