Maseru, Sept. 21 — Following the current situation of the Identity Documents (ID) in the country, the cabinet has met with one of the South African companies to resolve the issue of ID’s.
The Government spokesperson, Mr. Thabo Sekonyela indicated that the meeting between the Cabinet and these SA companies is to come up with a solution to address the baglock of the IDs.
He said this comes after the current companies, still from SA, have failed to fulfill its mandate of supplying IDs to the government of Lesotho.
Responding to the question of why this kind of job is not awarded to Basotho, Mr. Sekonyela said due to the nature of the work, Basotho have proved to not have enough capacity to perform it hence crossing to SA.
However, he said doors are still open to every company to present their proposals provided they are certain that they will carry out the taks.
Mr. Sekonyela said the outcomes of the meeting will be communicated later when everything is agreed upon.
