Maseru, May13 — Members of the public say that cash for work projects that the government has announced that will take place soon is not a solution.
On Friday last week, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Mr. Limpho Tau said that the government has put aside about M100, 104,160 million towards cash for work projects which will take place in villages as intervention to the prevailing food insecurity in the country.
Speaking in an interview one Mr. Khotso Mofoka said that this is not a solution especially with commodity prices going up every day.
He said that if a person is going to get M500 for the 10 days of work, it does not address poverty at all saying that 50kg of maize meal costs over M400, adding that all the money goes towards the maize meal.
