CENSUS DISTRICT COMMITTEE DEVELOPS ACTION PLAN

Mokhotlong, Jan. 16 — The Census District Committee has developed an action plan on Population and Housing Census publicity and advocacy.

Development of the action plan was a follow-up to the formation and training of the committee as part of activities geared up for the upcoming national Population and Housing Census expected to be conducted for two weeks starting from April 12, this year.

Made up of public servants from various government departments, the committee will engage in a series of campaigns and public gatherings to sensitise the community about Census and its importance in the district.

According to the plan, activities to educate the public about the Census will begin from next week until the second week of February, the committee has agreed.

Census is crucial for evidence-based policymaking, resource allocation, and national development, providing vital data for planning education, health, housing, and infrastructure.

It helps governments to understand the nation’s true demographic profile, ensuring fair distribution of services, and supporting national goals amongst others.

The Population and Housing Census is conducted every 10 years in the country, the last one was in 2016.

According to Census 2016 , Mokhotlong has a population of 100,442 people.
