CRROA LAUNCHES SIGN LANGUAGE

Maseru, Apr. 14 — In a bid to promote inclusive education within correctional institutions, at least two sign language teachers will be deployed at Mohale’s Hoek Correctional Institution.

This was revealed by Crime Prevention, Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Ex-Offenders (CRROA) Executive Director, Mr. Nkalimeng Mothobi in an interview with the Agency, saying the initiative will be piloted at above mentioned district from April 30 together with robotics study, saying one robotic teacher will also be deployed.

He said the initiative was triggered by realisation that correctional institutions accommodate many people with different abilities thus found it befitting to ensure those with speech and hearing impairment are able to communicate with other people and access education.

He added that technology is advancing rapidly lately, thus youth in correctional institutions need to learn robotics as they would utilise acquired skills to be self-reliant when released from prison. LR/TL
