Maseru, Oct. 21 — The Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences (DCEO) has vehemently denied that it is after one of the Anglican Church of Lesotho (ACL) Radio Presenter, Mr. Lebese Molati who is reported to have fled the country.
DCEO’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs. ‘Matlhokomelo Senoko told the Agency on Saturday that Mr. Molati was only summoned to handover documents he talked about over the radio in his programme which she said implicated some people in the country.
Mrs. Senoko said DCEO is only demanding documents which will assist it if there is indeed a case to investigate or not.
However, she said Mr. Molati had promised to hold a press conference on the matter and that the next thing they heard was that he had fled the country.
‘’We are not even asking him to disclose his source of information, what we need is the document he was talking about on his Radio programme,’’ he highlighted.
When approached for comment, ACL Radio Station Manager Mrs. ‘Mantolo Mohale told the Agency that she only learned that Mr. Molati was not on air as expected and upon inquiring she learned that he had fled the country.
Mrs. Mohale said she was yet to meet with the ACL’s Radio lawyers to advise her of what steps to take on this matter.
She however confirmed that she knows about Mr. Molati and DCEO’s were in talks about what the Radio Presenter had said in his programme.
Attempts to get Mr. Molati’s side of the story were not successful as he was not available on his two mobile phones.
