MISA TO TRAIN MEDIA ON GBV, LGBTI DISCRIMINATION

Maseru, May 19 — The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Lesotho chapter in collaboration with Sonke Gender Justice Lesotho will hold a two-day training for media practitioners at Thaba-Bosiu from Thursday.

Speaking in an interview with the Agency on Sunday and outlining the objective of the training, the National Director of MISA-Lesotho, Mr. Lekhetho Ntsukunyane showed that Media is a strategic partner that its capacity is fundamental in achieving gender justice and as such, this training is key in positioning media as an advocacy tool to end Gender Based Violence (GBV), stigma and discrimination of LGBTQI+ community and cishet women and girls.

He indicated that the overall goal was to reduce stigma, discrimination and violence against LGBTQI+ communities, as well as cishet women and girls.

He added that this training will also come in as a way to strengthen the capacity of civil society to advocate for LGBTQI+ rights and provide inclusive quality gender-based violence (GBV) prevention, mitigation and response services.
