Mohale’s Hoek, May 17 — The District Disaster Management Team has formulated an action plan in preparation of a community based cash for work initiative aimed at reducing hunger in vulnerable households.
According to the Disaster Management Authority’s (DMA) Disaster Manager, Mr. Lebohang Moletsane sensitization and targeting exercises will be done next week, because communities are expected to resume the jobs on June 01 to November, with beneficiaries earning M500 for a period of 10 days.
Mr. Moletsane further indicated that the National Information System for Social Assistance (NISSA) will come in handy when identifying beneficiaries, even though some members showed some scepticism regarding the reliability of the information in that system.
He articulated that the expectation is that in one month 2 families will work interchangeably, from 8 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon, noting the number of people expected to benefit per month is 2,250.
