Maseru, May 17 — The Officer in Charge of Maseru Central Correctional Institution (MCCI) Assistant Commissioner Tsoto Manaka says he did not see any Officer assaulting inmates although it came to his attention that the latter was assaulted.
These he said when testifying before the Commission of Inquiry on the incidents that occurred at MCCI on December 21 and 22, 2023.
Assistant Commissioner Manaka further denied hearing inmates crying during the general search exercise, saying he even passed and greeted them.
He added that he did not even see the footage of assault incidents because he did not get an opportunity to watch it on December 22 and 23 due to things that already occurred.
