Mokhotlong Oct.17 — Educating communities on sustainable practices is key to addressing rangeland degradation not only within the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP) catchment areas but also across the entire district.
This is according to the information released by the Polihali Branch Public Relations (PR) Office under the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) regarding the collaboration the Authority forged with key stakeholders to create herders awareness of the importance to protect rangeland for proper management.
The Authority collaborated with key stakeholders including Tlokoeng Police Station, Department of Range Resources Management as well as Herders Coordinating Committees from Ha ‘Meta and Molikaliko and surrounding villages to raise awareness against vandalism of infrastructure developed under LHWP Phase II alongside critical discussions on rangeland management and soil conservation efforts aimed at preserving the essential ecosystem. . .
