DIFA BEREA LAUNCHES U-15 ‘MAMATHE DEVELOPMENT COMMUNITY LEAGUE

Berea, June 26 — DIFA Berea officially launched the Under-15 ‘Mamathe Development Community League at Ha-‘Mamathe on Friday, with football coaches receiving training on developing young players as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots football in the district.

The launch brought together coaches from different clubs, who attended a coaching session facilitated by Millennium Park Soccer Academy coach, Mr. Kalaele Tseka. The training focused on developing quality football players between the ages of six and 15.

Speaking during the launch, DIFA Berea President Mr. Lekhooa Thabaneng urged the ‘Mamathe Zone to improve its performance and qualify for the play-offs, noting that the zone had failed to progress in previous competitions.

He appealed to coaches to use the opportunity to improve players’ skills and eliminate obstacles that hinder football development. He also encouraged them to pass on the knowledge gained during the training to their players.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tseka said coaches should be willing to make sacrifices to ensure the growth of their teams. He advised coaches to focus on teaching and developing players during training sessions rather than coaching from the sidelines during matches.

He further explained that he uses the SHEIQS-P coaching model, which encourages players to be creative, confident, committed, and coherent. He added that this approach has helped distinguish his coaching methods.

Mr. Tseka also stressed that all players should be treated equally regardless of their physical build, height, or preferred foot, saying every child deserves an equal opportunity to develop their football talent.
