DIPPING PROCESS CONDUCTED IN TY CENTRAL

BEREA — The dipping of goats was conducted on Tuesday at Teyateyaneng (TY) Central in Berea, where farmers brought their goats ahead of the upcoming fibre and mohair shearing seasons.

Speaking in an interview with the Agency, one of the farmers, Mr. Molete Molete, said the dipping process is important as it cleans goat fibre, improves the quality and stretch of fibre, ensures better quality mohair after goats have been shorn, and it also kills external parasites such as ticks and lice.

Mr. Molete noted that the initiative benefits all goat farmers, including those who shear at community sheds and those who cut fibre individually at home.

He added that the exercise is carried out ahead of the shearing season expected in May, stressing that proper dipping contributes to healthier goats and high-quality fibre and mohair for the market.

Regular dipping is a key animal health practice that helps control parasites, protect goats from disease, and improve the overall quality of fibre and mohair produced.
