GOVERNMENT COMMITTED TO SUPPORT FUND – RAMOELETSI

Maseru, Nov.03 — Minister of Labour, Employment and Public Service Mr. Richard Ramoeletsi says that the government of Lesotho is committed to supporting the pension fund with relevant policy to enable it to execute and attain its mandate as enacted in the founding act.

This he said on Friday during the first Public Officers’ Defined Pension Fund annual member engagement forum in Maseru. This first forum also marks the fund’s 15th anniversary.

Mr. Ramoeletsi highlighted that in response to members’ call, in December 2022, the government passed certain amendments to the founding act of the fund saying notably these amendments focused on risk benefits provided to members in unfortunate event of disability and untimely demise while in active service and also the threshold of gratuity increased adding that members can now commit up to 50 percent fund credit.

“The transition has had its share of challenges, however he assured that the government remains resolutely committed to overcome this headlights. With your support and dedication that we are poised to overcome any obstacle that may arise forging ahead towards a brighter future for all our public officers,” he said. . .
