Maseru, Dec. 17 — Residents of Ha Makhoathi in Maseru say the illegal dumping site that has been created by motorists has become a health hazard, even for children.
Mrs. ‘Malefu Putsoa, a resident, speaking with LENA on Tuesday said children get attracted to some of the contents at the illegal dumping site, and one of them nearly drowned as the garbage on the edge of the bridge.
She said the garbage also contaminates the area including the river water that is used for animal drinking while some of the villages also use the water for household purposes.
Mrs. Putsoa explained that they have discovered that some of the garbage is dumped by the hospitality establishments from Thaba-Bosiu, judging by their contents, adding that these businesses need to be called to order. . .
