Maseru, Feb. 28 — The Radebe Foundation is set to host the inaugural edition of the annual Moshoeshoe’s Day Horse Racing event on March 11 at Peka Race Course.
The Foundation has allocated M300,000.00 to cover the prize money across different categories, including Triple Race and Flat Race, with M150,000 earmarked for winners in each category.
Lebo Radebe, Chairperson of the Foundation, stated that the event celebrates the founding of the Basotho nation by King Moshoeshoe I in 1824, coinciding with Basotho’s bicentennial anniversary.
“The race is a tribute to Moshoeshoe’s Day, aiming to integrate cultural elements and showcase Basotho’s historical use of horses for transportation, making horses an integral part of Basotho heritage,” noted Radebe.
