Qacha’s Nek, Dec. 17 — Qacha’s Nek Magistrate Court Senior Magistrate Ts’eliso Bale has sentenced 30 year-old Tumelo Ts’oana of Ha Nkhahle to 10 years in jail with an option of M10,000 fine for repeatedly raping his 15 year old lover.
The court heard that the abuse occurred persistently on May 2024 until December 11, 2024 at Mats’ela-ha-Beli, contravening the provisions of Section 9 (1) read with section 32 (a) (v) of the Sexual Offenses Act No.3 of 2003.
He pleaded guilty and Crown Counsel Advocate Itumeleng Lentsoe accepted his plea, noting that the victim had been under the false impression that they were in a relationship and is now pregnant.
During mitigation, Ts’oana admitted he only discovered the victim’s age when he found out that she was pregnant.
