Qacha’s Nek, Dec. 17 — In a harrowing case of sexual violence, Senior Magistrate Ts’eliso Bale of Qacha’s Nek Magistrate Court has sentenced 41 year-old Molefi Mothala of Tsoelike, Ha Thaba to 15 years in prison without fine for raping a 10 year-old mentally disabled girl.
During the judgement, Senior Magistrate Bale acknowledged that Mothala was a first time offender and had spared the court’s time by pleading guilty.
The court learnt that on December 2024, Mothala lured the child to his home, forced her to undress and raped her without protection contravening the provisions of Section 15 (1) (a) read with section 32 (a) (vi) of the Sexual Offenses Act No.3 of 2003.
Advocate Tsotang Maile, representing the crown, accepted his plea and revealed shocking details, including that it was not the first incident.
