Maseru, July 29 — Following his sterling performance in the men’s 100m with 10.07 seconds win on Monday, Mojela Koneshe finished his men’s 100m semi-final in 10.19 seconds at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, missing a spot in the final due to wet conditions.
Although his 100m journey ended, Koneshe represented Team Lesotho with determination and pride. He is still to participate in the 200m today (Wednesday).
On the other hand, a brave performance from Kamohelo Mofolo saw him leading for most of the 25 laps of the 10,000m. His efforts cost him when the pace increased on the final 2 laps. But he still finished with a national record of 28:01.
While Pooana Khoahli won the fight against his opponent from Mauritius and is through to the semi finals. In women’s 400m ‘Mamakoli Senauoana ran 53:45 to qualify for the semi finals.
In men’s 400m Mokheseng Tente and Neo Ntelele gave their all on the track, recording times of 50.24 seconds and 51.20 seconds respectively but they did not advance to the semi-finals.
Lesotho National Olympic Committee has commended the athletes for their determination, commitment and courage in representing Lesotho on the international stage saying they deserve their utmost respect and appreciation.
LNOC highlighted that competing against some of the best athletes in the Commonwealth is an achievement in itself adding that every race is a valuable learning experience that builds resilience, confidence and strength for future competitions.
The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games has over 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories participating in 10 sports and six fully integrated para-sports, including athletics, swimming, artistic gymnastics, 3×3 basketball and weightlifting.
