KOTOANE LEADS THE WAY IN ORGANIC FARMING

Berea, Aug 29 — As the neighbouring country, South Africa continue to recognize the significance of women in modern society, Lesotho is no exception as Mrs. Mamatebele Kotoane is among the few women shaping the landscape of the agricultural sector in Berea district by leading the way with organic farming.

When approached for a comment on Thursday, Mrs. Kotoane who owns Piggery and Green Produce Distribution at Ha-Mohatlane shared with LENA that lately consumers are sceptical about food quality and safety, therefore she saw an opportunity to unlock the potential in organic farming.

Mrs. Kotoane said her career in farming started in 2007 at her farm which was more on piggery project and crops production which employed four people, but as time progressed, she saw a need to shift focus to horticulture and producing crops under an open space farming method. . .
