LDF TROOPS TO DEPART MOZAMBIQUE – PM

Maseru, March. 27 – The Prime Minister (PM), Mr. Ntsokoane Samuel Matekane has officially informed the nation that LDF troops tasked with combating an Islamist insurgency in Mozambique will depart the country for Lesotho on July 15.

The PM announced this during a press conference held at State House, Maseru on Wednesday. This is after the PM and other Heads of State attended SADC Extra Ordinary Organ Troika in Zambia last week.

The PM explained that  Lesotho  through LDF has been  part of the Southern African regional troops since 2021, adding the  withdrawal is due to SADC through Field Assessment Mission that the situation in Mozambique is stabilised.
