Maseru, June 13 — The Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) President Advocate Salemane Phafane (KC), has expressed his gratitude to Likuena players after flying the country’s flag high in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Likuena on Friday stunned highly ranked Zimbabwe, who had been a hoodoo team for years, beating them 2-0 at Orlando Stadium but suffered a setback in the second match going down 1-0 to Rwanda on Tuesday at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
“We are very proud of the impressive displays shown by the team in the two matches despite losing the second game to Rwanda,” LeFA President.
“We take that as a wake-up call to come back strongly in the next assignment as our target as the Association together with the players and technical staff was to win both matches but things didn’t go as planned against Rwanda.
