Changsha, June.13 — The Government of Lesotho is working on increasing agricultural productivity to meet both local consumption and commercial needs.
To achieve this goal, Lesotho needs assistance in climate-smart agriculture techniques, advanced irrigation systems and technical assistance to build institutional capacity in the Ministry of Agriculture and in local farmers.
This was said by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Mr. Lejone Mpotjoane in his remarks at the 4th China-Africa Economic Trade Expo which is currently ongoing in Changsha, China.
While outlining some of the projects that Lesotho is aiming for, Mr. Mpotjoane said that the government also wants to build market aggregation centres for small holder farmers saying this will be a catalyst for rural development initiative since these centres will bridge the existing gap between the isolated rural farmers and broader markets with competitive prices for their produce. . .
