Maseru, Jan. 13 — As the festive season has been blemished by a significant increase in drowning incidents.
This has resulted in Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) releasing an urgent report warning the surrounding villages of Malibamatso and Senqu about the severe flooding at the Katse Dam during this rainy season.
Speaking in an interview with the Agency on Monday (LHDA) Senior Public Relations Officer, Mr. Tlali Nchai said that they alert the community that there is a notable increases in the Katse Dam, offering a hopeful outlook as the rainy season is in progress, cautioning people to adopt proper habits that reduce the risk of flooding such as avoiding to cross where it is not safe to do so.
He concluded that as the Project has pure intentions regarding the surrounding community which is preventing any harm that can destroy the lives of people and their animals they are urging the people to stay out of water due to overflow of the dam.
Katse Dam is the most spectacular water feature in the country, located in the Malibamatso river and is the second largest in Africa.
