WOMAN ESCAPES JAIL WITH FINE AFTER STOCKTHEFT CASE

Qacha’s Nek, Jan. 13 — Mamashoai Lebelo (46) of Ha Motsie, Senqunyane was sentenced at Qacha’s Nek Magistrate Court by Magistrate Monyake Mahlehle to a fine of M4000 or two years in prison, with half of the sentence suspended for 36 months, provided she does not repeat the offense.

She paid M2000 towards the fine.

Lebelo, who was co-accused with the late Mocheko Pita (62) of Ha Morema, Qabane faced charges under Section 13 (3) (d) of the Stock Theft Amendment Act No. 5 of 2003.

The charge stemmed from an incident on March 15, 2024, near Ha Motsie in Mafeteng, where they were found in unlawful possession of two cattle and failed to provide a satisfactory explanation when questioned by the police.
