LESOTHO HOSTS ARIPO’S 48TH SESSION

Maseru, Oct.28 — In efforts to continue fostering creativity and innovation for socio-economic growth of our Member States through an effective intellectual property system, the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) has held its 48th session which will last for five days in Maseru from Monday.

The session is attended by 22 ARIPO Member States, as well as observers from potential ARIPO Member States. Over the coming days, this Administrative Council will deliberate on critical matters that will lay the groundwork for building robust IP frameworks that ensure that Intellectual Property rights are protected, respected, and fully utilized for the benefit of the region.

While opening this session, the Minister of Law and Justice Mr. Richard Moeletsi said that the Forty-Eighth Session of the ARIPO Administrative Council comes at the time when Lesotho celebrates 58 years of Independence and 200 years of existence as a Nation, hence it is one of the high level events for biennial celebrations saying that this is the time of reflection on peace, unity and resilience, which are the values that Basotho have carried forward for two centuries. . .
