PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEES TO MONITOR PROJECTS

Maseru, Jan. 15 — The  Chair of Chairs of Parliament Portfolio Committees, Mr. Mokhothu Makhalanyane says it is high time they monitor major projects to ensure they are completed on time.

This he said during the Moshoeshoe I International  Airport tour that was taken by Chairpersons and Members of Portfolio Committees of the National Assembly whose objective was to analyse the rehabilitation progress of the airport.

He said the construction of the Museum as well as that of the Royal Palace have since been halted and this might cause double payments, saying the construction of the Royal Palace was estimated to cost M136 million but now the value has increased to M345 million.

He therefore indicated that to ensure these projects are completed and the public funds are not misused, they have advised themselves to monitor them.
