LESOTHO STRENGTHENS TIES WITH INTERNATIONAL SEABED AUTHORITY 

Maseru, Aug.29– Lesotho has reaffirmed its commitment to international environmental governance and sustainable resource management as Ambassador Matete ‘Nena formally presented his credentials to Her Excellency Ms. Leticia Carvalho, Secretary-General of the International Seabed Authority (ISA).

The presentation ceremony was followed by a substantive dialogue in which Ambassador ‘Nena and Ms. Carvalho explored ways to enhance collaboration between Lesotho and the ISA. Central to their discussions was the advancement of marine biodiversity and progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14 on Life Below Water, which underscores the protection and sustainable use of oceans and marine resources.

The two dignitaries also examined broader areas of cooperation beyond marine ecosystems, reflecting the interconnected nature of global environmental challenges. These included climate change adaptation, sustainable agriculture, food security, and the Just Energy Transition through clean energy innovation…NT/BM
