Maseru, Mar. 04 — In efforts to foster support for Lesotho’s candidature for the position of the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Lesotho is expected to table before the council of ministers of the SADC region to vouch for Mr. Joshua Setipa for this position.
Speaking in an interview the Agency on Monday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Mr. Lejone Mpotjoane said that this meeting is going to be held in Angola on Saturday and Sunday where he mentioned that Lesotho is already on the agenda of that meeting as to vouch for the support of SADC.
He said that in other efforts, Mr. Setipa travelled to Guyana to attend the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Heads of Government meeting where he was accompanied by the Minister Counsellor at the Lesotho Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York where he was presenting his vision for the position.
Mr. Mpotjoane showed that when Lesotho can attain the position, it will put Lesotho at an advantage of getting benefits such as technical assistance which will put Lesotho in a position of a developing economy.
