QUEEN’S GOLDEN BIRTHDAY HONOURED WITH A HOLY MASS

Maseru, June 07 — Congregants converged at St.Louis Catholic Mission, Matsieng on Sunday in thanks giving and celebration of Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso 50th golden birthday.

The mass led by Roman Catholic Church (RCC) Archbishop Tlali Lerotholi  O.M.I saw the presence of the Royal Family, officials and Matsieng community amongst others.

In her speech, the Queen said God has been with her for the last fifty years of her life, hence inspite of challenges she counts her blessings that include family, the church and Basotho at large.

She emotionally expressed heartfelt gratitude after today saw her being awarded a gift from the Pope. “This has truly touched my heart as it came unexpectedly, may God help me to grow more in faith.”

She promised to continue working hard, highlighting life as a precious gift from God, therefore will continue to support St Louis mission as well as carry her duties with humility as her parents have taught her.

Similarly, the Principal Chief of Matsieng, Chief Seeiso Bereng Seeiso wished the Queen a happy birthday, thanking all on behalf of the family that they planned this day and God truly blessed it.

Similarly, Archbishop Lerotholi who led the service said 50 years jubilee is a period for introspection, time to rejoice and forgive those who have wronged.

He articulated this has been referenced accordingly from today’s reading as read by Queen on Deuteronomy 8: 2-3 and 14-16 respectively. 

In the same note, Mrs. ‘Maletuka Moroka delivered birthday messages and thanksgiving on behalf of congregants and diocesan council, thus stating their joy for this special day.

Therefore she urged the Queen to consult the Book of Hebrews as she starts this new chapter of her life.

The climax of today was the cutting of cake by the Queen as well as receiving a blessing (gift) from the Pope, with the Archbishop having congratulated the Queen for such an honour.

Over and above that, congregants presented numerous gifts to the Queen as well as entertained the audience with different plays and activities.

The mass commenced earlier with the Queen’s procession into the church as well as graced with the presence of family and friends. Queen was born on June 02, 1976, married to King 25 years ago and blessed with one prince and two princes.
