Maseru, Aug. 02 — Following months of struggle, Litenteng community in Ha Tsunyane Roma will now have a temporary access bridge while construction for a permanent one is yet to take place. The Agency has discovered.
In December 2020, the access bridge connecting Litenteng and other villages on the other side of the river collapsed due to heavy rains and the villagers then made a temporary structure while awaiting the government to reconstruct the access bridge but to date there is not even a sign of construction of the bridge.
The structure made of available materials like poles made from trees from the forest, cement and corrugated iron sheets sustained the community from 2020 to December 24, 2023 when tragedy befell them.
Speaking in an interview, one of the villagers Mrs. ‘Mamasheane Lephoto expressed gratitude saying now that spring season is approaching at least they will no longer have to sit on a tree trunk to cross over.
