Berea, Oct 05 — The Berea based outfit, Lioli F.C were crowned the champions of the newly introduced Berea Charity Cup after claiming victory against Bantu F.C. on the Independence Day at Lioli stadium on Wednesday and thus pocketing M100,000,00.
The tournament was sponsored by Maluti Mountain Cement, saw four teams in participation which included Amigos F.C of Mapoteng, Maroala F.C of Ha-Majara, Bantu F.C. and Lioli F.C respectively.
Minister of Local Government and Chieftainship Affairs, Home Affairs and Police, Mr. Lebona Lephema says they are extremely happy to see the bright faces of Basotho who are united in soccer, saying the initiative marks the beginning of reviving sports and greater things yet to come for the benefit of Berea people.
Mr. Lephema further said he will request Maluti Mountain Cement to take such games to Mafeteng with the objective of uniting Basotho so that Lioli can defend its championship.
