Berea, Oct 19 — Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) and South African Police Service (SAPS) were engaged into a one day bilateral meeting at Teyateyaneng with the aim to discuss ways to tackle cross border crimes.
During an interview with LENA, LMPS head of delegation Senior Assistant Commissioner Ts’eliso Moerane said cross border crime is a major concern affecting both countries, therefore they saw a need to unite with the aim to see how best they can win the battle against such crimes.
Senior Assistant Commissioner Moerane said they usually experience a challenge whereby perpetrators commit crime in Lesotho then flee to South Africa or likewise,
He added that vehicles are stolen in both countries, drugs are smuggled and people are trafficked, therefore efforts to unite in such a manner with representation of provinces sharing the borderline with Lesotho is basically meant to develop strategies of combating such cross crime.
