Maseru, Aug. 20 — As a country prepares for the Local Government elections to be held on September 29 this year and while not much is being done towards the elections as it is often done when general elections are coming, some members of the public have stated that Local Government Elections are still relevant for Basotho.
Speaking in an interview with a member of the public Mr. Motlalentoa Hlehlisi stated that Local Government Elections are as important as the National Assembly Elections therefore they should be given the same recognition. He pointed out that the elections are equally important for the development of the country.
He remarked that Members of Parliament (MPs) cannot do everything on their own. He said they need councilors to share the responsibilities to improve Lesotho. He emphasized that there is need for accountability when it comes to public funds therefore Local Government Elections can help in achieving that.
