MAGISTRATE SENTENCES SECURITY GUARD FOR UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF FIREARM 

Maseru, May 04 — Magistrate Nkhethoa Molapo has on Monday sentenced Teboho Tsolo to pay a fine of M4000 or serve 2 years imprisonment after he was found guilty of unlawful possession of a firearm  and ammunition. 

While giving evidence, Detective Police Constable Mpakanyane stationed at Morija Police Station said  that on April 30, 2026, he received a tip-off that the accused was  in possession of an illegal firearm. 

He stated that he proceeded  to Ha Tsolo where the accused resides  and found the accused. 

He stated that he told the accused about the purpose of his visit. He mentioned that the accused voluntarily handed over a  firearm and three rounds of ammunition.

He said he asked the accused to produce a licence for the firearm, the accused failed to do so leading to his arrest.

Magistrate Molapo ordered  that the firearm be destroyed by the Chief of Police.

As per the charge sheet, Tsolo on April 30 2026  at Ha Tsolo in the district of Maseru unlawfully and intentionally possessed a 9mm firearm and three rounds of ammunition without a licence.
