MICSTI AFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION


Mohale’s Hoek, Aug.12 — The Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Information,
Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation Mr. Kanono Ramashamole has on
Monday affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to digital transformation with the help of the
Universal Service Fund (USF).
When delivering his keynote speech at a 4-day teacher’s training on Digital Skills, Mr.

Ramashamole stated that Lesotho deliberately adopted a framework called Govesta, and
within this the country has signed up for a campaign called 50 in 5, which means 50 countries
are expected to have set up Digital Public Infrastructures within a period of 5 years.
Mr. Ramashamole articulated that Lesotho as the chairman of the African
Telecommunications Union has to lead by an example, by embracing and ensuring that all
services are being accessed through digital platforms, noting the plan is to set up about 40
functional computer Laboratories within a period of 2 years, as well as Digital Hubs at
Schools and Community Councils…
